  Bit outdated buildings, but a new gite is being built at the moment. Food is tasty, the punch lovely. The staff friendly. It was very cold in our house, none of the windows closed well. (End of september). Everything will be better when the new building will be opened. Very good location to go to see the volcano. We got up at 3 a.m. and had the chance to see the eruptions. Cool! And we were back in time to have breakfast. Tasted very good after being wet and cold from the nightly trip. 😁 We stayed 2 nights and had the same dinner, except for the meat. A bit boring for a vegetarian.

  What a lunar place. The whaou effect when you arrive is huge. Remember to bring a lot of water and solar protection.

  Positive things first: The gîte is amazingly located and you can start the hike up to the crater of Piton de la Fournaise super early. The new building is under construction at the moment and is supposed to be opened in August 2022. If you can wait until then to stay here, do so. The rooms were full of mould and had this stale stuffiness that goes along with that. Everything is super old and dingy and it‘s not very pretty at all. You have no choice but to book dinner and breakfast. The dinner was actually nice, but as we started hiking really early we didn’t get any breakfast and weren‘t offered a snack to take with us or a refund. And 7,50€ for a breakfast is actually quite a lot. Even if you eat it.

  Popped in for a coffee. Friendly staff and quick drive from the main road to the volcano. Unfortunately not serving food at time we went in. Would recommend to walkers in the area.

  It's an amazing experience and had a so excellent lunch. Personal were very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent and generous. Drinks at very affordable price. There is an amazing view from there when there are good weather..
